Born 22 June 1870 at North Seaton Colliery, England, and died 19 Sep 1924 in a coal mining accident in Byesville, Ohio. He set sail with his father, Robert Edgar and brother John Thomas (Jack) to America 30 Nov. 1888, arriving at Philadelphia, PA 13 Dec. 1888. He worked in the coal mines of eastern Ohio, moving frequently, and was also an Evangelist Minister, preaching at revivals throughout the area. He married Mary Hannah Burnett 9 Jan, 1894. They had nine children:
