Fred Howard Edgar
Spouse's Name:  Frances Isabel Butler
Father's Name:  George Thomas (Tom) Edgar
Mother's Name:  Mary Hannah Burnett
One of two Edgar brothers that married into the Butler family, (Edmund "Peck" Edgar married Myrtle Marie, the sister of Frances Isabel Butler-Edgar). Family lore says that when the Edgar family moved into the area where the Butlers were living, Peck saw Myrtle and told his brother Fred "That's the girl I'm going to marry", and Fred replied "O.K., I'll take the little one (Isabel)".
Fred was a coal miner and extremely active in the labor movement in the early days of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) and lived a pretty nomadic life during his early years. He lived on a farm near Centerville, Belmont Co., Ohio for many years, and when the house burned, he and grandma moved to Dover, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio. He was badly crippled with Rheumatoid Arthritis and passed away on July 4th, 1979 in Bowerston, Harrison Co., Ohio at the age of 77. His final wish was to have his remains cremated and the ashes strewn beneath a large oak tree on his farm near Centerville, Ohio. About a week after he died, his wish was granted in a small family ceremony on the farm. May his soul rest in peace.  Married 11 July 1921, he and grandma had 5 children.
