One of two Edgar brothers that married into the Butler family, (Fred Howard married Frances Isabel (Bell), the sister of Myrtle Marie Butler-Edgar). Family lore says that when the Edgar family moved into the area where the Butlers were living, Peck saw Myrtle and told his brother Fred "That's the girl I'm going to marry", and Fred replied "O.K., I'll take the little one (Isabel)".
