Born 13 January 1935, he was the second son of Fred and Isabel Edgar. A career soldier and a combat veteran, he retired a First Sergeant and a Drill Instructor. A professional soldier, he served for many years in Europe, and two tours in the Republic of South Vietnam. He retired after 20+ years as a 1st Sergeant (E8)at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After retiring from the military, he held jobs as a policeman for the town of St. Clairsville, Belmont Co., Ohio, and worked in a coal mine until his death. He lived in Powhatton Point, Ohio for several years before moving to a section of land that had belonged to his father and mother, near Centerville, Belmont Co., Ohio. He passed away at his home on 18 June 1981, after working a midnight shift in the coal mine, and is buried in a family plot in the Greenwood Cemetery, Harrison Co., Ohio.
